Waiting...
Daisy: Whatcha doing in Daddy's 'puter bag, Pearly?
Pearl: Waiting for Santy Paws.
Pearl: I think I heard something. Do you think that's him at the side door?
Daisy: I don't know, but I'll guard the back door by sitting on this pillow that keeps the cold air out (when it's against the door!) and let you know if I see him.

The Great White North
Pearl here!
So the weather in Rochesters has been downright Canadian!!!! It wasn't winter and then all of a sudden...it was.
Look at our backyard:
Daisy didn't even want to go outside.
I didn't want to go out this morning either and that's why I left Mommy some lovely shart work -four original works scattered around the house.
Daisy and I have pretty much decided that this weather is for the birds, so we're going to just snuggle with the Mommy.
But Mommy says no more shart work! I'll see what I can do.

Christmas Cards
Daisy here!
I's just lying here keeping cozy and thinking that my pugsistant (Mommy!) needs to get working on Christmas cards! We took pictures way back when it was still warm and there wasn't any snow and now we have Christmas cards to send to our friends! If you would like us to send you a card, email us at pearlanddaisy at gmail dot com. We would love to send you a card!

Not another sister!
Uh, Mom, who is that?! Is she a new baby sister?
She doesn't smell like a baby sister.
And up close, she really doesn't look like a puggy. She looks more like a crochet blankie.
Turns out, the new puggy isn't my new sister! Phewf. She is crocheted toy Mommy made. I wonder if she'd mind if I chewed on it?
(Mommy's note: I didn't create the pattern. I bought it on Etsy from a seller named Jaravee. She has all kinds of cute doggie crochet patterns)

See the problem?
Pearl here.
This is me on Halloweenies:
And this is Daisy:
See the difference? I'm dressed up as a chicken and she's dressed up as...Daisy! Mommy tried putting a costume on her but Daisy acted like she was having teeth pulled so Mommy decided to stop the torture. But I had to wear my costume for at least 5 minutes! But that was it. Finally, I took matters into my own paws.
"Mommy, get this thing off of me!"
"Whew. That's better. Now don't even think of putting that chicken head back on me."
Now that the trauma of Halloweenies is behind us, we're off to Mommy's work today! Mommy says it's for "educational purposes" whatever that is but we know it's all about the loving and treats!

Uh-oh. Halloweenie
Daisy here.
It's that time of year again when puggies get 'fraided because Mommy puts on funny clothes and hair and we can't even tell it's her! This year Mommy said she was the Red Queen but we don't get thats either because Pearl is the only queen in the house...
Even Auntie Maria got in on the act. Very scawy.
Sheesh. What's a pug to do? At least no one made me put on a costume today.
(Mommy's note: ...yet!)
Happy Halloweenies!

Pug Thoughts Monday
Pearl here!
Mommy had planned some other posts between last Pug Thoughts Monday and today but she was slackin' doing things like workin', getting her Halloweenie costume ready and crocheting...so here we are at Monday again and another PTM. To play, write what you think me or my creepy sister, Daisy, below are thinking.

Puppy Pearl
Pearl here!
I used to have my own web site until Mommy changed the internets and now it's gone. But to celebrate my birthday a couple of weeks ago, Mommy said I could post stuff that used to be on my web site. So I decided to share some of my old diary entries and some puppy pictures!
March 12, 2000
Today we went for a drive in our new car. Mommy says the car is "sandalwood". Daddy says the car is "brown." I think the car is cozy except when it's hot and then the car is like the inside of the bbq.
April 21, 2000
We went to the Dinosaur State Park today. It wasn't such a great trip. There were huge monsters in front of the gift shop. Daddy said they were pretend dinosaurs but I barked and barked to warn everybody anyway. Everyone was laughing so hard, I don't think they heard me.
I liked the park better than the scary monsters except when I fell into some big puddles by the river. Daddy must have been scared too because he was shrieking like a Girl Guide with a squirrel in her tent. When I finally finished splashing and racing through the puddles at high speed , I looked at Daddy. He was covered in mud. He must have fallen into the puddles, too.
The worst part of the day was not at the Dino State Park at all but another place called "Fossil Rim". I don't know what a "fossil" or a "rim" is but I think they mean "big, scary bird that is going to peck through the car window and eat you." We drove around in our car for a million hours while all sorts of scary animals with horns and teeth came up to the car for food. Daddy fed the animals while Mommy shrieked and rolled her window up. I was pretty brave except when something called an "emu" came to the window. That thing was the scariest thing I had seen all day besides the monsters at the Dinosaur Park. I barked and barked and told Mommy and Daddy to drive away VERY FAST but they were laughing pretty hard at something so I don't think they heard.

Dear Diary, I am sorry I haven't written in so long, but Christmas came!
March 22, 2001
We drove all the way to Oklahoma today. I think Oklahoma must be somewhere in Canada, though, because it's so far. I tried to sleep most of the way, but Mommy and Daddy kept waking me up. They were singing their guts out. If I was the kind of dog that howled, I would have howled. Instead, I licked my pillow.
March 23, 2001
I liked Oklahoma! I especially liked our room because there were stairs which Mommy couldn't block off. She tried putting a cooler in front of them, but I just jumped right over it. I ran all the up the stairs and under the bed where some nice lady had left a bunch of plastic beads. I ate a few before Mommy came and got me.
I also liked our room because there was this huge fish in it. Usually, I like fish a lot - Mommy used to give me tuna when she wanted me to do something. Then she gave up and now she lets me do whatever I want. Except she didn't want me chewing on this fish. She said it was a "decoration". I think it should have been "lunch".
March 24, 2001
Before we drove home from Oklahoma, we went to the beach. I went into the lake and drank three bellies full of water. Mommy got bitten by some big bugs and Daddy unloaded and loaded the car. I had fun eating all the stuff on the beach - sand, garbage, and rocks, but Mommy said she would rather have all her toe nails removed than stay another minute.

My bff Baby and other doggie newsies
Pearl here!
Thank you to all my friends for the wonderful birthday wishes! I had a very good birthday - though I could have used a few more cookies (but then I always can!).
My bff, Baby, had a TERRIBLE weekend though. She had to go to the SPA to get prettified. I've never been to the spa but Baby is a Pekingese (Mommy had to look up how to spell that word!) and she needs her fur brushed and fluffed. But all of the torture was worth it because she turned out looking BEE-YOO-TEE-FUL. She even had her picture taken and then the picture was posted on Facebook (we prefer Dogbook but whatever). And here she is!
Pretty cute, eh?
In other doggie news, the band called OK Go (which confuses us. Where are they going? To the dog park? To the vets? And when are they going? Now? Tomorrow?) has a new video out. Even though there aren't any puggies in the video, we think it's pretty funny and great:

Happy birthday Pearl!
Today is Pearl's 11th birthday! To celebrate, over the next few weeks we will post some old diary entries from when she was a puppy (and from her old web page).
But for today I just want to say that words cannot express how much I love this little puggie. Each day she continues to bring me so much happiness and fill my life with a love that I never imagined before getting her.
So thank you Pearly! Your mommy loves you very much!!!!!

Cleaning up our act
Daisy here!
Mommy meant to do this post months ago but summer was sooooo busy that she kept running out of time. But we're excited to tell our story today!
Back in the spring a very nice lady at Seventh Generation cleaning stuffs sent us a box! Me and my sister were so excited, asking, "What is this Mom?"
I wanted to lick our presies because I wuv to lick everything! But big sister told me not to.
Even though licking wouldn't hurt me, the cleaning stuffs probably wouldn't tastes too good. When Pearl was a puppy she used to follow Mommy into the bathroom on cleaning days and she would try to lick the shower stall or floor or whatever else Mommy had cleaned. Mommy was worried because she didn't want Pearl getting sick so she bought some Seventh Generation bathroom cleaner. Then if Pearl licked up after cleaning, it wouldn't be toxic or dangerous.
So when the lady at Seventh Generation sent us all this stuff, we couldn't have been happier! Mommy has been using the stuff all summer. She especially loves the lemony-thyme smell of everything and the nice fresh wipes. Mommy also loves that they are all safe for doggies and for peoples, too!
Big sister says these are puggie approved products that she can stand behind! (or...um...at least sit!)
Thank you Seventh Generation for keeping us clean and safe!

So close and yet so far
Pearl here!
When Mommy came out today to take pictures of us, I sat nicely, posing in the grass.
Meanwhile my sister ate grass...
...made faces...
...and looked liked the hunchback pug of Notre dame:
Proving once again, what a creepy little sister is. And to think that we nearly got rid of her yesterday!
See, when we were at the dog park yesterday this little 5 year old girl went CRAZY over Daisy. She held out her hands saying, "I want her!!!" and even followed us to the car where Mommy let her hug and kiss Daisy while Mommy strapped me into my seat belt. The little girl even asked "Do you like her?" I tried saying, "NO! Please take her off our hands." But Mommy kept telling her that we were keeping her. Geesh. The little girl tried and tried but in the end, Mommy didn't give Daisy to her. Bummer.
Mommy says I would be sad if Daisy went to live somewhere else and I say, "heck no!". But then I think about the times when I get to bite her butt and use her for warmth when it's cold out and then maybe, okay, yeah, I can see that I might miss her a little if she wasn't here. But only a little.

Just add water
Daisy here!
Mommy took this picture of me the other day:
And said I reminded her of this:
She said he's called a "gremlin" and he turns real cranky and mean when he gets wet. That doesn't happen to me. When I get my bath my tail uncurls and I look at Mommy wondering why she is torturing me like that.
Mommy also said that you don't even need to add water to me to make into this version of the gremlin. All you need to do is have Daddy running around the house playing with me.
One day she's going to videotape it and show everyone the proof.

Technical Difficulties
Daisy here.
The other day when we were visiting Toronto, I discovered something awful and said, "Wake up Mommy! All the pictures on our blog are GONE!!!!!"
When she didn't wake up (she was really tired. She and Daddy walked about a bazillion miles that day), I said, "Look Mommy!!! Can't you see how worried I am?!!! You need to wake up NOW!!!"
Luckily, she got up after that. She learned that why we don't have any pictures on our blog is that the people who we had been buying internet from (that's how it works, right?), shut our service down without our permission!!!! Mommy and Daddy had gotten new people to come and give us internet and phone last week. Those people told our old internet people about the phone but then they just went and disappeared EVERYTHING! Mommy and Daddy were not expecting that. They thought they needed to call the old company to cancel especially because they were still paying for the internets.
Mommy figured out that she has to find all the pictures she can on her computer and put them on a new place on the internets so they can be back on the blog but it might be a few days before she gets that all done.
In the mean time, here is a picture of my most amazings sister:
We hopes everyone is having a very good summer!
