Pearl here! It's been a fun, busy week. Mommy has been taking lots of pictures. She got into an "extreme close up" mood the other day and took these of us. The first two are of me and the last one is one my stinky sister.
Mommy moved my chair this week, too. It was near the Christmas tree and Mommy said it was crowding the living room. But something funny happened. After she moved my chair to the other side of the room, Daisy and I discovered this cool thing. It's called a "fireplace" and it has nice tiles in front of it. We spent a lot of time there this week especially when the sun was shining on the little brown tiles.
This is me and my bone:
This is my sister thinking deep thoughts - NOT!!
And here's the picture that Mommy says "warms her heart" (it's probably the fireplace warming it not the picture but we won't tell her)
Tomorrow, we're driving to Montreal. Yay! We love Montreal. There are lots of belly rubs and treats there.
Until next year,
Pug love from,
Pearl

Awards!
Daisy here! It's been an exciting week. We received two awards! Not one but TWO! Can you believe it? We're so lucky.
The first one is from our friend Clover who gave us the Lemonade award. Thank you so much Clover!
This award is given to bloggers who show great Attitude/Gratitude. We're giving this award to some wonderful friends - Liss & the gang, Puddleglum, Roxy & Lucky and Brutus.
Our second award comes the very nice people a Pet Forums.
Thank you so much people at Pet Forum!
I've had a pretty busy week. Besides the usual - bugging my sister, chewing my bone, napping, and playing outside I had some great play sessions with Daddy!
This is me the other night.
"Hey, Dad, watcha doing? Wanna play?"
"Oh, you're watching hockey."
"Well, that's okay. I can wait 'till you're done. I need to stretch anyway."
"Whoa! Hey Mr. Sneakpants! The game's not over!"
"Hey, come back down here!"
"You leave me no choice but to come up there!"
I got him pretty good after that. Not only did I jump up all over him and pretend to bite, I made the scariest noises. Mommy and Daddy keep saying they're going to videotape me when I'm playing with Daddy one of these days. I keep telling them not to because everyone will be scared at how fierce how I am! And I don't want to scare anyone!
Have a good weekend everyone!

Christmas Meme
I saw this meme few days ago on Nevis' blog and finally had a few minutes to do it.
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper. I feel like I can do more with it. When I'm feeling particularly energetic, I like to do ribbons and the whole shebang.
2. Real tree or Artificial? Real baby! Growing up we always had the same artificial tree. Real was never even an option. I love going to chop our own (so does Daisy!).
3. When do you put up the tree? I used to put it up 2 weeks before Christmas. This year I put it up after Thanksgiving.
4. Wreath on your door? Yes - a handmade one. It's pretty simple but I like it.
5. Do you like eggnog? I lurv eggnog but it doesn't love me.
6. Favourite Christmas gift received as a child? Barbie airplane. I can still remember the smell of that thing. Ooooh, plastic. I loved it!
7. Easiest person to buy for? Hubbie is easy because he gives a nice long list but I also like to get him things that aren't on his list and that can be difficult.
8. Least easiest? My sister. I feel like I buy her the same thing every year - well different versions of it!
9. Do you have a nativity scene? No.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? I love Christmas cards but they are time consuming and each year I feel like I get to them later and later. But I will prevail. I will!
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? When I was a teenager I HATED oranges with a passion. I thought everyone knew this but apparently, "Santa" didn't because he left 3 in my stocking.
12. Favourite Christmas Movie? Scrooged.
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Boxing day. I kid not.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? I honestly can't remember.
15. Open presents on Christmas eve or morning? We open our main gifts on Christmas Eve and our stockings in the morning (you have to wait for Santa after all to fill the stockings...geesh)
16. Lights on the tree? I have always had multi-colored lights but next year I may go all white.
17. Favourite Christmas song? Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? We used to travel to our families every year but we've pretty much stopped that. Except this year we're going to Montreal for a few days around New Year's.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Rudolph.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? An angel and she is the happiest little angel you've ever seen!
21. Favourite thing to eat at Christmas? I'm on a special diet because of health stuff so I'm going to pass on this question.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Christmas music!!! I get so sick of hearing it.
23. Favourite Tree ornament, theme or colour? Uh...oh, I really like the new Hello Kitty dressed as an Eskimo I bought last year on Boxing Day at Target for like 2 bucks.
24. Favourite for Christmas dinner? See answer to question #21
25. Brussels Sprouts - love or hate them? Love.
26. Favourite accompaniment to the Christmas Pud? I like the word "Pud" but again see #21. No sugar for the puggie mama.
27. Favourite Christmas Carol? What Child Is This
28. Your very Favourite Christmas Thing? Getting to spend holiday time with my sweetie and puggie pies
29. A Christmas wish! Peace and good health for all
30. Tag a Seasonal Six! Anyone who is reading this is tagged!
Each year since I got Pearl I've taken a Christmas photo of her that I include in our Christmas cards. Last year was the first Pearl and Daisy Christmas photo. Here it is:

Someone posted this on a puggie Livejournal blog today - they found it on YouTube. I had to watch it a few times because it's too adorable. And made me laugh my butt off!

A friend in need
Our friends at Pug NYC are in need of some support and financial help. Their puggie Dylan is having trouble with one of his legs. They brought him to the vet's yesterday and they were told he had a dangerous inflammatory infection affecting his spine and brain. An update today, however, says that he doesn't have the infection - which is a huge relief - but they still don't know what's up with the little guy. He's too sick to come home and the visit to the vet cost them $4,000. Our friends are a young couple living in New York City who have been struggling financially. Their puggies are everything to them and they are asking for any help anyone can give. Visit their blog for their story.

A visit to the vet's
Pearl here. Mommy took me for my annual check-up and talked to the doctor about a limp I sometimes have. We learned a few years ago that my knees are kind of wonky - a puggie thing - but lately Mommy's noticed it's a little worse. The doctor said it needs to be taken care of and they recommended anti-inflammation medication. Mommy wasn't sure because drugs make her nervous, but then the doctor gave my legs a good feel and said that I've actually lost some muscle mass in the bad leg and that I need to fix that!
So we came home with some medication which Mommy wants to give me but is still a little nervous about. They took blood tests so that they have an idea of where I'm at today with my liver and stuff and then in a few weeks they'll check again to make sure the medication isn't hurting me. Mommy wishes there was another way but the vet said this was the best way to avoid me having further problems.
Other than that silly hind leg, I'm perfect - of course. And I'm thinking that maybe having a bum bad leg isn't so bad because I'm already getting special treatment today (extra treats anyone?) and lovely longer than usual belly rubs.
Well, I think I hear the treat bag again so bye for now!

A mommy post
I saw a fun meme on Nevis' blog and wanted to do it - so here we go!
1. The last band I saw live was Great Big Sea.
2. What I look forward to most on Thanksgiving is playing board games.
3. My Christmas/holiday shopping is going okay. I have a bit more time this year because normally I have to mail a lot of my gifts to Montreal. Since we're going for a visit over the holidays, I'll bring them all.
4. Thoughts of my mom who died earlier this year fill my head.
5. I wish I could wear clothes that I want to wear. Because I'm on the chubby size, they don't make a lot of the cuter clothes in my size.
6. Bagpipes are cool. I lived in Scotland for 2 years and saw the best bagpipe playing at an international competition and heard the eeriest, most moving bagpipes at Loch Ness where a lone piper played amongst the ruined castle.
7. And as for the weekend, a dear friend is taking me to the spa and then we're going to the Nutcracker.
And just for fun, here's a picture of Daisy I took last week. I call it "Block of Beige".

100th Post Extravaganza!
Daisy here! Oh, boy, today is an exciting day. Not only did we go walking in the cemetery in the snow but today is our 100th blog post. We're so excited, we're snorting up a storm.
To celebrate all the fun we've had so far this year, we're giving away stuff. FREE STUFF!!!! One lucky person will win the loot in the pictures below. To enter the contest, all you have to do is post a comment to this post. On Monday, Daddy and Pearl will randomly choose one winner and we will post the winner's name.
Here's what we're giving away. First, we have a package of our favorite treats (don't worry! It's not our bag. It's a new bag Mommy bought at the store!).
Next, we have the newest issue of Bark magazine.
And then we have 2 bookmarks! Not one, but two! Both made by Mommy and featuring me and my sister, Pearl. Here's the one with me:
And here's Pearl's:
And that's our contest! We hope you enter! We love giving away stuff!

New Furniture
Hello! It's me Daisy. Mommy and Daddy got some new furniture and I've been really liking it! But Mommy hasn't been too happy with one thing - she said I'm allowed on the new couch (which scared me at first) but I'm not allowed on the new chair even when there are tempting blankies on it. Well, I showed her. Here I am in the morning before Mommy got up:
And this is me on the couch. Like I said, it scared me at first. It's made of dead cow! But the blankie made it better. Not so smelly.
But the way I enjoy the couch the best is when Daddy or Mommy are sitting on it. Daddy is especially good to lie on:
And sometimes it's just nice to sit beside him and use him as an arm rest. He doesn't mind!
In other news, we're coming up to our 100th post. Whoo-hoo! We think it's a reason to celebrate so we're going to have a little contest and give away some FREE stuff. Stay tuned...

Halloween Part 3
Mommy's a little late with the pictures from Halloween but better late than never she says and we don't really understand because we really don't like when our dinner is late. But we guess it's better we get it late than never so maybe she does have a point.
Anyhoodlies...Mommy got sucked in at the pet store a couple of weeks ago and bought a witch's hat. She thought it would be cute and funny if we both wore the hat, then she'd do some fancy Photoshopping and put us together in a picture with her in her witch's hat and then we'd have a great Halloween picture to post. But we didn't like the hat. Daisy wouldn't wear it all and tried to bite it when Mommy got near her. I wore it but only for like a millisecond because I don't like orange hair. This is only one of two pictures Mommy got. It made Auntie Maria laugh so we decided to post it.
Halloween was pretty fun. We got to sit at the door. Here's Mommy before she went outside to give away candy (she likes to go outside so that the kiddies don't ring the door bell. We don't get so freaked out then. We like to see the visitors but we don't like that dang bell!).
And this is the outside. Mommy is looking at us saying to Daddy, "Take a picture of the girls." Now that she sees this picture, something about herself reminds her of Winona Judd.
Well, that's all the Halloween until next year!

Howl-o-Ween Part 2
Mommy says she feels like a bad TV promo today - you know the ones where they tease you and then when you watch the show you realize you saw all the good stuff in the promo?
She didn't mean to make yesterday's post so mysterious. It was all about running out of time. You see, we were in the newspaper! Well, okay, they didn't actually write about us in particular but they did get a picture! Sort of. Mommy was going to take a picture of the article and the picture yesterday but didn't have time (she had a job interview where the man was very mean! She would write about it here but she would have to use lots of bad words that puggies shouldn't hear).
But Mommy learned today that the article is online and she snagged the photo we're in.
As you can see, my patrolling paid off because while I was out there checking things out, a wild pack of dogs came flying through and one of the dogs was attacking my sister Daisy! (Mommy and Daisy say "playing" but I disagree). Mommy didn't see the cafuffle because she was taking a picture of something else but she heard my barking - it was the bark I do when I'm mad at another doggie for attacking my sister.
Of course I'm not exactly barking in the photo. I'm onto the next stage of butt sniffing which really tells the other doggie that I am in charge!
Really, what would Daisy do without me?

Howl-o-Ween
Pearl here!
I went to Pugoween with Mommy and Daisy. Mommy wasn't going to take me because I don't like hanging out with a bunch of strange doggies but something happened last week. When Mommy got ready to go out the door to take Daisy to the vet's, I was right there! I was quite upset when I was told I couldn't come and then Mommy found a little poo upstairs. As I never poop in the house, I said it wasn't me! Mommy says I probably didn't even know I had done it. She thinks I was stressed out by staying alone. Anyhow, when she said I could come to Pugoween, I was very excited.
I wore a costume for about 3 minutes. As you can see I look very scary and I didn't want to frighten the other dogs (and Mommy was worried someone's eye would get poked out).
Daisy wore her costume for a little longer than me. I don't know what she'd been drinking but you can tell she's drunk, right?
Usually she runs around like a fool at the pug events but this time she just kept sitting by people's feet (we think this first guy is the photographer from the local paper. More on this later!)
Finally, Mommy realized that Daisy was hot. See her tongue sticking out? It wants water!
But she wasn't as thirsty as this puggie:
Anyhoodlies, Mommy decided to take Daisy's costume off and sure enough that crazy dog started running around like a wild wolf.
She even joined a gang:
She met a lot of other puggies. There was a cowpug who came sniffing:
And a pumpkin pug who was even crazier than her:
While she was off having fun and playing, I was patrolling, making sure everything was okay.
No one got hurt but tomorrow Mommy's going to post some evidence for why I was patrolling and how I handled the situation - AND how it was documented in the local newspaper.
Pug love from,
Pearl

We care!
The Care2 Petition site is hosting a petition to help outlaw dog chaining. We signed it. You can sign it, too.
In our old neighborhood, there was this one family who used to leave their dog chained up all day outside. I swear, it broke my heart every time I walked by. I never understood why these people got a dog in the first place. *shakes head* That dog wasn't aggressive but I've seen other dogs (one time a dog tied up to a pully system between trees) who you just knew would take off your head if you got near. I guess that's the point but then geesh, get an alarm system, not a dog.
Anyhow, I love that there is a possibility that this behavior of chaining dogs outside could be outlawed.

I guess that's the point but then geesh, get an alarm system, not a dog.
Anyhow, I love that there is a possibility that this behavior of chaining dogs outside could be outlawed.

Getting Ready
Pearl here!
I don't really like Halloween very much. I don't get to eat any of the treats, strangers who I can't lick come to the door and Pugoween is full of doggies. But Daisy likes going to the puggie events and so Mommy signed them up to go to Pugoween in a couple of weeks. Last night we were going through my old costumes to see what fit Daisy. Mommy let me wear one of my old costumes too. It's a cozy one.
For some reason the next two pictures make Mommy laugh so much she nearly pees her pants:
This is the costume Daisy is going to wear - an old skunk costume Mommy made for me a few years ago.
It looked better on me but I suppose she looks okay too.
Happy weekend everyone!
