The Mean to Me Elimination Diet

Daisy here. See how sad I am?

That's because when we went to the vet this week to see about the redness on my belly and some very dark spots on my skin,

he said I'm not allowed any more treats because I have allergies. None. Nada. Not one. Not a piece of apple. Not banana. Not cauliflower. Not the yummy meaty treats that come in a bag. The only thing I am allowed is green beans. Don't get me wrong, I love beans but I also love everything else.

Mommy and Daddy have been trying to fool me, too. When Daddy gets his apple out and gives some to Pearl, he pretends he's giving me some and gives me bean instead. I don't let on that I know what's going on. I mean, who's going to look a gift bean in the mouth?

At least my sister snuggled with me this week. Though she sometimes lets me lie beside her this is the first time she's ever come and put her head on me. I think she was giving me love because she can't give me bananas.

I'm on this incredibly mean to Daisy diet for a couple of weeks and I have to take medication (two kinds!) AND I have to have my belly washed AND lotioned until I go back to see the doctor.

In other news...this is a plant stand Mommy has in her office:

And this is me in the plant stand:

When Daddy saw this picture he asked if Mommy had put me in there. Yeah right! Mommy would never think of something like that. That move is all me!

What we did on a Sunday afternoon

Pearl here!

We wanted to post this LAST Sunday but Mommy has been busy all week working, belly dancing and watching Supernatural Season One so we're posting this a week late.

While we were doing this last Sunday:

Mommy and Daddy went to Winterfest and took a bunch of photos.

She took some pictures of some dogs. Actually a lot of pictures of some dogs. Just in case you don't know, these are not pugs:

In fact, we're not even sure they are dogs. They kind of look like wolves to us.

Although there were a couple of these winter dogs that reminded us of us. The first one here reminds me a lot of myself - she knows what counts in a life - a good rubbing! And the second dog was so tired she couldn't keep her eyes open. Oh, we hear you dog! That's why we don't do things like go to Winterfesty events where you have to pull sleds.

At the park there is also this place called the Wild Wings where they keep injured wild birds like owls and hawks. It's a pretty cool place except Mommy went in there with her camera and was already to take a picture of the cutest little owls and the Wild Wings guy told her they didn't allow Digital SLR photography. He said one person one time took pictures of the birds and tried to sell them so now NO ONE with a nice camera is allowed to take photos. If you have a camera phone or a Point and Shoot it's okay, he said.

Mommy thought this was one of the silliest things in the world but she was okay with it until the guy went on to lecture her how she should just learn to enjoy animals without taking pictures of them. And then he pointed to a rack of cards and said, "If you want photos of the birds you can BUY these."

She was a bit crabby after that because she loves animals and loves her camera and loves taking pictures of animals and doesn't like to be told how to enjoy things! But then she went outside and saw some really pretty horses and met the nicest police people. They were happy to have their picture taken.

We wonder if the police lady knew there were wolves in the park that day...hmmmm...

Shopping!

Pearl & Daisy: Hey mom! Whatcha doing?

Sue: Funny you should ask...I'm bidding on some fabulous pug items over at the Green Mountain Pug Rescue

P & D: Can we come and bid too?

S: Sure! It's free to register and there are lots and lots of goodies for puggies and puggie parents and the money goes to a great cause - helping puggies in need.

P & D: Sounds good Mom! We're going to have a nap first and then do a bit playing and then figure out how to use a computer...

S:: Well you better hurry! Auctions end on January 31st! (I'm not sure if there will be more in February).

Begging in Montreal

Pearl here! Daisy was going to do the blog today but she's busy chewing her bone so I'm in charge of telling you about our trip to Montreal.

First thing - it was COLD!!!! Colder than our freezer in the basement. Colder than Simon Cowell's heart. Like a good girl, I went out and did all my business lickety split each time but Daisy was a big baby and kept picking up her paws. Then she'd get completely freaked out and sit down. Mommy put some of her socks on Daisy but they didn't work either. We're not sure what we're going to do this week when the really cold weather comes here. I guess Daisy will have to hold it for a few days.

Second thing, there was food. Lots and lots of food. And we did a little begging for some of it. First, at Auntie Janet's. Here she is giving us our reward for being really good and sitting nice and still (okay we wiggled a little bit):

Then at the hotel we waited while Daddy cut green beans for Mommy (she lives on the stuff).

This is a minute later when Daddy is tossing me a bean. Look! You can see the bean in mid-air! A second later it was in my mouth, where you couldn't see it anymore.

We also did some resting. Me more than Daisy because really, I know how to nap. First at the hotel:

And then at Auntie Danielle's (I didn't used to be allowed on the furniture over at hers and Uncle Rick's house mostly because Uncle Rick had lost his mind thinking that doggies weren't allowed on furniture. His mind's back now and a few minutes after this picture he joined me on the couch and was rubbing my ears.)

We have a bunch more pictures from our trip but they are mostly of Mommy's grandniece, Gigi, and though she's adorable, she's not a pug, I thought I'd save the best picture for last. This one is at home and it's perfect because I'm in focus and Daisy is not.

Happy Monday!

Happy New Year!

Pearl here! We had a bunch of fun in Montreal but now we're pooped. Mommy took lots of pictures of us on our trip and will post some soon but here's a little something I made to wish all my friends a great New Year!

We wish everyone a happy, healthy 2009 full of love and belly rubs!
